Meet the Mighty Mooch, Jessica Cohen’s beloved cat and Feline Oracle’s go-to source for kitty wisdom. Mooch is not only a wise and all knowing little furball, he’s also one of the best familiars a witch could ask for.

Mooch’s Gotcha Day
So Mooch was a feral cat that a friend of mine, I would say met up with, during the first lock down, and they became quite close. But then he fell in love with another good friend of mine who has a very large mastiff.
Mooch, who came and left as he chose and was still feral a lot of the time… whether he was gonna want to move into a house with a very large dog was anybody’s guess, and I think we all decided that would probably end poorly for everyone involved. So somebody needed to step up and offer Mooch a place to live.
So I came to meet him in person… and it was love at first sight. He’s very large, and handsome, and rather sweet. I’m grateful every day to have him.

WORTHY CAUSES: VOTING RIGHTS

It’s a scary time in the US right now, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the things we can’t change. If you’re feeling powerless, focus on what you CAN change. Remember—you are not fighting this alone. Everything you do, from donating, to protesting, to educating yourself on the issues, matters. When we band together, all those little actions add up.
For example: Voting rights are under attack in Congress. How can we fight back?
First: If you have the means, we encourage you to donate to organizations like The Fair Elections Center. This is a non-partisan organization dedicated to making voting more accessible. With programs like the Voting Rights Project, they work with local advocates to challenge unjust laws and remove barriers to voting.
The Fair Elections Center is just one of many great organizations fighting for voting rights. It’s always good to do your own research so you can make sure you’re giving to a cause you truly believe in.
Don’t have the means to donate right now? That’s okay! Another great way to fight back is to stay informed. Let’s talk about the SAVE Act and how it may affect you.
The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship like a birth certificate or passport in order to register to vote. This legislation is not only unnecessary and impractical, it could potentially silence the voices of millions of American citizens. The SAVE Act passed through the House of Representatives earlier this week and will soon be voted on in the Senate.
So what should you do? Do your own research on the SAVE Act. Look at multiple sources to get the most up-to-date, unbiased information you can. If you agree with us that the SAVE Act is unjust, let your voice be heard. Contact your Senators, your local representatives, your friends and family—let everyone know that American voices can not and will not be silenced. With all our voices working together, we CAN make a change.

finding strength in community

We've been feeling overwhelmed by the dread of the direction we are moving in. My Oracle has been a source of comfort and solace during this time, but silence is not helping anyone.
We will be using this tiny platform to speak out with. Feline Oracle is committed to the resistance. While we fight for a brighter future, we must take special care of each other. Our communities must sustain us and we them.
So, as we go about this change, we will remind you: We need to start buying local when we can.  Artists, performers, writers, and makers of all kinds are in need. Go to local shows, bars, and restaurants. These people are at the heart of what makes civilization beautiful. When the time comes to celebrate, they will make us ready and give us the space, in all our wondrous, glorious cacophonous splendor, to begin our great work, to meet the potential of the dream we all share.
We will be suggesting small businesses—mainly black, queer, and women owned and operated—that deserve your consideration. We encourage you to comment with some of your favorite small businesses! Let's all join together in support of the beautiful diversity and strength in our local communities.
Stay safe, and remember: You are seen, you are chosen, and you are loved.

iS YOUR CAT ACTING SICK?

Picture of a cat with the words
Here at Feline Oracle, we tend to focus on what your cat is trying to tell you in a spiritual sense. But your familiar doesn’t stop communicating with you just because you put the divination tools away. If your cat is acting strange around the house, it might be trying to send you a message—not a cosmic message, mind you, but a message about its needs or health.

If your furry friend is acting a bit off, try not to panic. It can be scary to think your cat might be sick or hurting, but the best way to help them is to keep a level head and pay attention to what they’re trying to tell you. Keep track of how much your cat is eating, sleeping, and going to the bathroom. Pay attention to their behavior—if a usually clingy cat is suddenly withdrawn and moody, or a standoffish pet becomes suddenly cuddly and needy, it could be a sign something is wrong. If you’re worried about your cat’s health, you can take a look at this article for signs your cat may be sick.

Above all else, if you think something is wrong, it’s important to get in touch with your vet as soon as possible. While divination methods like casting sessions and tarot readings can be valuable tools for giving general guidance, your pet’s well being can be best managed by specific advice from a qualified expert. If your Oracle is feeling unwell, consider skipping the usual divination session and take them in for a check-up—once your kitty has a clean bill of health, they can go back to dispensing adorable cosmic wisdom.
