Each of these prints are 8x10 in size and feature my original illustrations of iconic and influential gothic authors like Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and Alexandre Dumas. They can be purchased on their own or framed for an additional fee.
This illustration is a part of an ongoing project of mine to reimagine influential gothic authors as young children. I started doing the drawings after thinking about how rich and deep these authors fantasies were. Then I wondered, “Did these dark imaginations show on their faces, even as children?” To answer that question, I began this project, in an effort to reimagine these literary giants, and to imagine their humble beginnings.
In the first five entries of this series, I have portrayed young versions of: Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein; Bram Stoker, author of Dracula; Edgar Allan Poe, famed poet and author of classics such as The Raven and Telltale Heart; H.P. Lovecraft, horror icon and author of The Call of Cthulu; and Alexandre Dumas, skilled French novelist and playwright and author of The Count of Monte Cristo.
These prints make lovely gifts for the gothic literature lover in your life, or a wonderful addition to the spooky and mysterious decor in your own home. Classic literature fans and goths alike will love the vintage and unique feel of these hand drawn illustrations. These prints are lovely decorations to add some mystery and darkness to any room in your home year round, or they make wonderful seasonal Halloween decorations.
